Thoughts :
There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

Maximum Age   PDF  Print  E-mail

Q: I am over 60, what's the maximum age for a person wishing to teach in China?

A:  There is no uniform observance of any age limit regardless of the stated policy of the Government. There are many teachers here in their 60's, and a few into their 70's.

Consider carefully whether your age will cause you any health problems.  Remember it's harder to deal with health problems (generally) than in your home country.

It is also common for your teaching day to include a lot of climbing of stairs - including access to your apartment.  Can you handle this with no problems, even in the heat of summer?

Examine your health insurance policy carefully - make sure it does not have an age limit which will kick in unexpectedly when you are already in China (or have decided to stay longer than originally planned.)
